REYWAL was created in 2018 by Tzoi Stathopoulou, emerging from the desire to transform light into a personal narrative. The name derives from an anagram of the word lawyer, referencing her previous professional career in law. Each REYWAL is a unique, handmade artistic lighting object composed of thread, iron, and light. The thread forms three-dimensional structures that surround and diffuse the light without restricting it.
The design and fabrication take place in the studio, following the pace of a handmade process that emphasizes the individuality of each piece. References are drawn from tradition and cultural memory; archetypal symbols, garments, textiles, and traditional patterns, which are reinterpreted as contemporary lighting installations.
