IFI LIGHTING NIGHT WALK “LIGHT ACROSS URBAN SCALES”

IFI LIGHTING NIGHT WALK “LIGHT ACROSS URBAN SCALES”

OPEN WALKS

The second Night Walk by IFI Lighting explores the center of Athens through lighting design and the ways in which light reveals different scales of the urban environment. Along this route, Kolokotroni Square, Milos Hotel, the Callista Crafts and Yiannis Sergakis stores, and The Social Hotel come together to form a narrative showing how diverse elements of the urban fabric can shape a unified nocturnal experience of the city.
Lighting becomes a tool for reading architecture and public space. At Kolokotroni Square, the balance between the general illumination of the square and the lighting of individual landmarks creates a dynamic composition that reinforces the character of the place. At Milos Hotel, the neoclassical façade is approached as part of the city’s urban image, with light highlighting its rhythm and proportions through the windows. In the Callista Crafts and Yiannis Sergakis stores, lighting focuses on the intimate scale of the interior and its relationship to the urban promenade, creating distinct spatial experiences. The route concludes at The Social Hotel, where the illuminated façade acts as a contemporary landmark within the city’s nighttime landscape.
Through this walk, visitors discover how contemporary lighting design can reveal the qualities of urban space, connecting public space, architecture, and the everyday experience of the city through light.
