KATERINA NAKOU

MADE IN ATHENS 

Katerina Nakou is an internationally awarded textile artist and designer. Her practice focuses on the intersections of traditional textile techniques with contemporary art and design, creating spaces for dialogue between tradition and innovation. She studied Textile Design at the Reutlingen University of Technology (Germany), where she later completed a postgraduate degree in Design & Fine Art Conception.amp. She has specialized in the field of analog and digital textiles at various institutes in Europe, including the Textiel Museum – Textiel Lab (Netherlands) and Vevft (Norway), and her works have been presented in museums and institutes in Greece and abroad. In 2023 she established her work in Athens, where she creates textile visual works and handmade objects, exploring and evolving traditional weaving techniques through experimentation with materials and forms. At the same time, with the aim of highlighting weaving as a dynamic and highly creative art, she organizes specialized weaving seminars on the loom, teaching in her workshop, but also in collaboration with academic institutions and cultural organizations.
