FRENCH INSTITUTE OF GREECE
The French Institute of Greece is housed in a building complex developed in successive phases. The original building was constructed in 1952-1953, designed by architect Leonidas Mponis, while a second wing was added in the 1970s, with contributions from sculptor Paris Prekas and architect Demosthenes Molfessis.
The Institute was founded by the French School of Athens, which expanded its activities in 1907 to include the teaching of French language and literature. Today it operates as the cultural and educational service of the Embassy of France in Greece, with which it merged in 1999.
