TSALAPATAS ROOFTILE AND BRICKWORKS FACTORY

TSALAPATAS ROOFTILE AND BRICKWORKS FACTORY

The Rooftile and Brickworks Factory, that was founded in 1926 by brothers Nikos and Spyridon Tsalapatas, was one of the largest of its kind. Today, its workshops and industrial facilities have been restored and today constitute a rare surviving example of an industrial complex in Greece. In the factory’s installations, the production chain has been reconstituted step by step: trolleys, clay silos, grinders, compressors, cutters, dryers, the imposing Hoffmann kiln, as well as end products, bricks and tiles of different kinds. Thus, the Tsalapatas Factory “functions” once again by the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, as the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas, bringing to life all the production stages of bricks and tiles, and the daily life of the workmen who were employed at the factory.
